[David looks... unsettled. Which is saying something, considering his usual emotional range seems to be self satisfied smirking to completely disinterested smirking, and that's about it.]

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who is still presently on board the ship.

[Because he might have wished that he didn't have to deal with most of you, and now he can't see or hear about 80% of the people on board anymore.

Feel free to have him bump into you sometime! Literally. He can't see you. Someone should come up with a tagging system.]

[David is sitting on a couch in his cabin, with the view screen behind him showing a snowy mountain landscape that really just makes the entire room look even more monochrome and stark than it already does. As he's wearing his gray uniform and generally looks a little pale and washed out all the time anyway, he definitely sort of looks like an appliance designed for the room rather than someone who just happens to be living here.

Point that out to him and he might poison your drink, though.]

As there seems to be some confusion about this, I thought it might be best to provide those curious with a brief explanation as to why the Admiral has chosen to celebrate Christmas in December.

Although there is a fair amount of evidence that the historical man known as Jesus was, in fact, not born on December 25th, the popular theory is that the holiday was established as taking place to adapt a more ancient pagan custom. Further evidence suggests that the date might actually have a greater connection to ancient Jewish tradition and Passover.

Regardless of when or why this custom was established, there is no question that the origin of Christianity is the Middle East, and the increased spread and popularity of the religion occurred in Europe, which was then passed along to the Americas during European colonization of the region. While I understand that customs vary across the globe, those complaining that their version is somehow better or more legitimate, and the Admiral is biased towards Americans or Europeans are at least somewhat incorrect. He is simply following the more common origins of the tradition, rather than the later adaptations adopted by cultures that were introduced to the custom long after its inception.

[His slightly smug expression fades a little, turns almost contemplative.]

I wonder if my crewmates would have cared more about awakening from hypersleep on Christmas had they known it would be their last.

[Public, Backdated to Day One of the Flood]

[The differences between David as a robot and David as a human are definitely on the subtler side, but there's something unmistakeably... off about him when he clicks on the video feed. For one thing, his perfect posture is gone - he's slouching a little on the couch in his cabin, with his arms balanced on his thighs, and he looks tired. It's reasonably late at night, and he's not really on board with the whole actually needing to sleep thing.]

I'd like to speak with anyone who's suddenly found themselves in an android's body. If we've truly switched physiologies, there are a few necessary maintenance practices you should be made aware of.

[David couldn't really give two shits about it being Father's Day or not, but Harvey's post does kind of start the old gears whirring, particularly in the wake of the conversation he had with Shaw.]

In most human cultures, there is a particular emphasis on honoring thy mother and father. Interesting that that concept has apparently been condensed into a more or less meaningless two days of exchanging gifts.

[He says "interesting" in a way that means he really thinks you're all full of absolute bullshit.]

I wish I could say I understood having enthusiasm for recognizing the accomplishments of your creator. [And that's delivered in his usual dry, slightly bored tone, because he might be bitter as fuck about this concept when it's not like Weyland ever acknowledged what David was capable of, but he doesn't want to talk about it with all of you, so he's masking it like he usually does.

A pause.]

Chromie has not reported to the library. [So someone might want to go check on that.]

[Private to Erik]

[He's not really sure what to say about this, for quite a number of reasons, but.]

What was it like, being able to speak with him afterward?

[David is standing in his cabin, still wearing his usual gray uniform, and considering he's certainly taller than the couch and the bar behind him, he's obviously not been shrunk down to the size of an action figure.]

It appears that I am unaffected. If anyone requires assistance, [He smiles slightly, perfectly polite.] feel free to let me know.

[There are a lot of things David could say about the holiday. He's already pointed out it's already passed for him, before he came here, and he's told Narvin the truth about the Engineers, which makes the whole holiday seem even more bogus than usual, but he ]

I had almost allowed myself to hope that the mistletoe would be gone by the time the holiday had ended. When does it usually leave the Barge? [Because he hates that fucking mistletoe and he will be a very happy robot when it's gone. >C

He hesitates, almost like he was considering switching off the feed before his etiquette programming kicked in and reminded him he should probably be saying something about this.]

I suppose I should say thank you for the gifts. They were... appreciated. [He doesn't even sound entirely insincere. Sort of. It's always a little hard to tell when he's just pulling your leg versus being serious, but this time, he mostly just doesn't really know what to do with it.] Although I'm afraid the wine would be wasted on me, so if anyone wants an extra bottle...?
