secretasshole: (I feel fantastic and I'm still alive)

[David's about six months into his stay on the Barge and he's... frankly unimpressed. And a little bored. And a little annoyed with certain developments, so long as we're being totally honest, and after having a while to sit on it and think over the issue, he's turning on his communicator.]

In the past few months, two wardens have been demoted, [And both of them wardened people with his face, which is. Just weird. But there have been stranger freak coincidences in their lives, so.] and I've found myself wondering: why is it that inmates are subjected to such heavy questioning and scrutiny when they first arrive, and afterward, while wardens are almost automatically afforded a certain amount of trust by their peers?

Obviously, for the most part, it would seem that that trust hasn't been misplaced, but two demotions is still less than reassuring. Why should one put trust in any warden when they, too, have the potential to become an inmate?

I'm simply curious.

[Maybe.]

An interesting theory, but flawed.

It has been my experience to date that individuals were more interested in my being when I was a Warden than they are now. I have... disappointed them. And, in return, they no longer seek my company as they once did.

[No telling why that could be, of course.]

It is precisely that. You claimed an absolute, and I have refuted that claim with evidence.

My point is that there is, in fact, interest in Wardens beyond the basic underlying instinct to trust. It is simply because many Wardens are of a similar nature that they find themselves forming alliances. Occasionally, with Inmates as well.

[In fact, much of her Warden days had been spent associating with more Inmates than Wardens.]

Not in this context. You negated my own personal experience for it being too "exceptional", thus implying an absolute that fits rigidly within your specific view.

Despite the fact that, at one time, I was--in fact--your assigned Warden, I find your reactions to my cited examples to be far more personal than the fact that I am merely speaking from experience.

However, should there be a more preferable means of conveying information to you, I would be interested in hearing it.

Very well.

Until then.

[B| Definitely bitter.]
